DirectorThe Italian director and screenwriter Claudio Caligari (1948–2015) established himself as an important voice in socially critical cinema through his work. His debut film, *Amore tossico* (1983), a powerful depiction of the drug scene in Ostia, was presented at the Venice Film Festival. After his second film, *L'odore della notte* (1998), he was only able to realize his third and final feature film many years later. *Non essere cattivo* (2015) premiered posthumously in Venice and was selected as Italy's entry for the Academy Awards. For this work, Caligari received posthumous nominations for the David di Donatello, Italy's most important film award.
