Marthe Keller is a Swiss actress of international renown who has made a name for herself in film, theater, and television with her elegant charisma and emotional precision. After training at the Zurich Drama School, she began her career in Germany and France, where she quickly attracted attention with demanding roles. In KLEINE RIESEN (2011, directed by Bouli Lanners), Keller plays the role of Rosa, complementing the young ensemble with her mature yet sensitive presence. The film won numerous awards, including at the Magritte Awards, and enjoyed international festival success. Marthe Keller had previously starred in international productions, including Marathon Man (1976, directed by John Schlesinger) alongside Dustin Hoffman, which brought her breakthrough in Hollywood. With films such as Fedora (1978, directed by Billy Wilder) and Black Sunday (1977, directed by John Frankenheimer), she cemented her reputation as a versatile actress with a strong screen presence. Keller also remains influential in European cinema. In The Butterfly Hunter (1998) and Clouds of Sils Maria (2014, directed by Olivier Assayas), she impresses with her subtle psychological acting. In addition to her film career, she has regularly appeared on theater stages, such as at the Comédie-Française, and has also directed operas herself. She has received numerous awards for her life's work and outstanding achievements, including the Swiss Film Award and the Prix du Cinéma Suisse. To this day, Marthe Keller stands for a style of acting that combines intelligence, sensitivity, and artistic integrity—and thus remains one of the most important European actresses of her generation.
