Sylke Enders
Director
Sylke Enders (born April 5, 1965 in Brandenburg an der Havel) is a German film director, screenwriter, and film producer. After studying sociology and social and economic communication in Berlin, she studied film directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb) from 1996 to 2002. Her feature film debut Kroko (2003, written and directed by Sylke Enders) won the German Film Award in Silver and was nominated for the European Film Award as European Discovery of the Year. This was followed by Hab mich lieb! (2004), Mondkalb (2007) – which received a “Special Award” at the 2008 Festival of German Film – as well as the films Schönefeld Boulevard (2014, Perle Prize at the Kinofest Lünen), Du bist dran (2013), Geliebtes Kind (2012), Schlitten auf schwarzem Schnee (2005) and contributions to the episodic film Deutschland 09 (2009). In 2023, her new film SCHLAMASSEL (directed and written by Sylke Enders, cinema drama, 115 minutes) was released. Set in 1997, it tells the story of a young journalist who, after the death of her grandmother, is confronted with family conflicts and a picture of a concentration camp guard. Enders has received several awards for her work: the German Film Award in Silver for Kroko, a special award at the Festival of German Film for Mondkalb, the Perle des Kinofest Lünen for Schönefeld Boulevard, and a media award for Du bist dran.
