Der irrationale Rest

In 1987, Suse’s boyfriend Matthias and her best friend Susanne try to escape from East Germany. But their flight fails. They are captured at the Czech-German border. Imprisoned, interrogated by the State Security Service (the 'Stasi'), psychologically tortured, and forced into betrayal. Suse remains behind alone and is forced to leave college because of her friends’ escape attempt. Their friendship is destroyed. For most young people under 20 life is just beginning. But for these three, life is brutally interrupted. 16 years later the three agree to meet again. They were once so close, but now the distance between them is filled with enormous tension loaded with the aspects of love, loyalty, betrayal, and escape.
