Panoptic

Directed by Rana Eid

Panoptic journeys through Beirut’s underground to expose Lebanon’s quest for modernity amid the obstacles it ignores.

Synopsis

Panoptic ventures into the underground of Beirut to examine the schizophrenia of Lebanon: a nation striving for modernity while ironically ignoring the vices that prevent modernity. While the Lebanese population has chosen to turn a blind eye to these shortcomings, Rana Eid, an ordinary citizen, explores the paradoxes of her society through sounds, iconic monuments, and secret hideaways. “A harrowing, moving, and captivating debut.” (4:3 - Four Three Film)
