An astonishingly nuanced portrait of a young mother (Sandra Hüller) who neglects her children.
An astonishingly nuanced portrait of a young mother (Sandra Hüller) who neglects her children.
Between disco, lovers, escaping from the police and ready-made pizza, the headstrong young Rita (Sandra Hüller), mother of five children, still seems to be looking for her own place in life.
Rita (Sandra Hüller), a social hardship case, sets off to Belgium with her youngest child in her arms - the other children are with a foster mother - to look for their own father.
"Social reality is full of mothers who don't fulfill their role as expected of them. That was my starting point. With the aim of describing not a social prototype, but a concrete and singular person." (Director's statement Maria Speth)
