The lovingly told story of a grandfather and his grandson who want to bring the magic of the movies to their home village.
The lovingly told story of a grandfather and his grandson who want to bring the magic of the movies to their home village.
After the death of his son, Samid is looking for a way to fill his life with meaning again. He decides to reopen the cinema in his remote village in Azerbaijan after 30 years. The old projector, a relic from Soviet times, is to be used again. But the challenges are great: the projector lamp is defective and the last roll of film is missing. In addition, the skeptical villagers must be convinced, especially the religious guardians of the village, who have reservations about the project.
Fortunately, Samid receives unexpected help from his young grandson Ayaz. Enthusiastic about the idea, Ayaz comes up with a creative solution: he shoots the missing film roll with his cell phone. Despite technical problems and resistance in the village, they pursue their goal with tireless energy. Their dogged determination begins to move the village community. Many residents recall the past movie nights and also begin to get involved, while others remain skeptical.
The film combines the reality of everyday life in a remote village with the magic of the movies and the nostalgia of days gone by. The impressive images show how the power of community brings people together even under the most difficult of circumstances. Samid and Ayaz prove that a love of the movies can transcend generations and provide new hope in times of grief and despair.
