Synopsis
A poacher in the snowy Alps, a murderer in the dusty expanse of the Wild West – Leo and Denny couldn't be more different, but their paths reflect universal conflicts. Against the backdrop of breathtaking landscapes and a world of plastic mannequins with ghostly lifelike features, a drama unfolds that is as surreal as it is captivating. The characters move between dance, prayer and violence, while song interludes lift the action into fantastic spheres and at the same time explore the abysses of human existence.
The animated series skillfully plays with contrasts: a peculiar magic arises between reality and the artificial world, between the nature shots and the stiff mechanics of the dolls. While Leo dreams of a life in complete freedom, Denny is entangled in the complex, dark secrets of a ranching family. Their stories collide thematically and visually – a modern commentary on the primal questions of guilt, freedom and the influence of fate, which often seems stronger than justice.
The film's extraordinary aesthetics, inspired by Theodor Fontane's novel “Quitt”, combines the plastic world with real nature, creating an atmosphere that is as disturbing as it is fascinating. The haunting music and vivid images leave a lasting impression that lingers for a long time. A work that blends art, comics and trash – and in doing so, raises questions that look deep into human nature.
