Trailer

In this touching Iranian drama, Fereshteh has to find a place to hide her newborn, illegitimate daughter.

Synopsis

The story of a young woman driven to a corner by social and familial expectations unfolds in Tehran. Fereshteh, a student, is hiding a big secret: she is the mother of an illegitimate child, something that is not accepted in her conservative environment. When her parents unexpectedly come to visit, she has little time to act. Supported by her loyal friend Atefeh, she begins a hectic and emotional odyssey through the city, looking for a safe place to hide her baby. The film interweaves intimate moments with the suspense of a story of escape. Every encounter becomes a balancing act between trust and betrayal. The camera accompanies the protagonist through an urban labyrinth that makes her isolation as visible as the harshness of social control. In contrast to this, the sincere solidarity between Fereshteh and Atefeh not only drives the story forward but also offers a ray of hope in an otherwise bleak reality. The film premiered in the Panorama section at the 2022 Berlin International Film Festival, where it was praised for its powerful direction and convincing performances by leading actresses Sadaf Asgari and Ghazal Shojaei. With a clever blend of realism and emotional depth, the film shines a light on the invisible: women who, despite enormous resistance, try to assert their place in a rigid society. A captivating portrait that will stay with you for a long time.
