Luma

Jennifer, called Luma, lives with her husband Georg in a small village and is expecting her first child. Her daily routine consists of household duties while Georg works. One day she meets the confident, bisexual Christiane, who has recently moved to the area. Their initial friendship develops into a passionate affair, which plunges Luma into an inner conflict. Having grown up in a Catholic environment, she struggles with her newly awakened feelings and the expectations of her community. Luma faces the decision of following her heart or conforming to social norms. LUMA is a drama from 2015, written and directed by Silvia Rietdorff. The film is based on a true story that Rietdorff learned about during her work as a journalist. The focus is on the inner transformation of the protagonist, who gains self-confidence by allowing her feelings and begins to stand up for her dreams. The main roles are played by Melanie Isakowitz as Luma, Anja Ressmer as Christiane and Dirk Talága as Georg. The film was financed by crowdfunding, which enabled Rietdorff to bring her heartfelt story to the screen.
