Janette and Vanessa experience moments that often push trans women to their limits—unflinching, realistic, and without false drama.
Synopsis
A glimpse into the lives of Janette and Vanessa, two friends who are both transgender women. In three non-chronological chapters, Janette and Vanessa experience situations that often seem like nightmares for transgender women.
T-STORIES accompanies Janette and Vanessa in situations that are particularly relevant to trans women in society. The camera documents interactions that reveal aspects such as identity, social reaction, and personal experience. The narrative clarity serves to create a realistic independent film that avoids exaggeration through its slice-of-life approach. The production has been shown at the LGBTQ Shorts Film Festival and TLVFest in Tel Aviv, among others, and reached the semi-finals of the Universal Film Festival.
As a contribution to the cinematic visibility of trans people, the work uses the means of documentary drama. The result is a specific approach to questions of representation, everyday life, and self-location. The film integrates real challenges into a dramaturgically reduced form without resorting to constructed elements of tension.
