Refugio is a romantic dreamer. His years-long search for true love takes him from circus life in Mexico to the nightlife of New Orleans. There, he unexpectedly falls in love with a beautiful, exotic dancer—a woman with a complicated past and a dangerous ex-lover who refuses to let her go. Refugio doesn't know that Juan, the man who saves his life, is actually his father. Thirty years earlier, Juan left the circus with a terrible secret. Fate now brings the two men back together. Growing up in the circus, Refugio later embarks on an emotional journey—driven by the search for his lost love—from childhood to adulthood, from his hometown in Mexico to the streets of New Orleans. This is a story about love, redemption, and destiny. UN CUENTO DE CIRCO & A LOVE SONG is the directorial debut of Mexican actor Demián Bichir, who also played the lead role, wrote the screenplay, and directed the film. He is joined by Eva Longoria and Stefanie Sherk, among others, who underscore the emotional intensity of the story. The film combines a circus atmosphere with classic melodrama, developing a visual language that oscillates between realism and fairy-tale symbolism. UN CUENTO DE CIRCO & A LOVE SONG celebrated its world premiere at the Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia in Mexico. Shortly afterwards, it was presented as the Gala de Apertura at the Festival de Cine Iberoamericano de Huelva, where it attracted considerable attention for its visual power and emotional depth. The film was also screened at the Cineteca Nacional Mexico in front of a national audience.
