Médéric just wants to love, but a new acquaintance and a terrorist attack turn his life into a crazy mess.
Synopsis
Clermont-Ferrand, central France. Médéric (35) meets Isadora, a married sex worker, and falls in love with her. When a terrorist attack occurs in the city center, Selim, a young homeless man, causes a wave of paranoia by seeking refuge in Médéric's building. Médéric, who sympathizes with Selim and is completely smitten with Isadora, suddenly finds his life in turmoil...
The focus is on a man who is reluctantly drawn into the life of a young woman after she seeks his help. The seemingly chance encounter gives rise to a web of misunderstandings and promises that becomes increasingly entangled. Guiraudie remains true to his unmistakable signature style: characters act impulsively, situations veer into the absurd, and behind every encounter lurks a mixture of desire, danger, and self-deception. The city becomes a mirror of its protagonists' inner turmoil.
NOBODY'S HERO premiered at the Berlinale, where it was perceived as an idiosyncratic, precisely observed study of human abysses and longings. International critics highlighted its subtle humor and sensitive treatment of social tensions. With quiet irony and a clear eye, Guiraudie tells the story of people who long for stability and at the same time fail each other—a film that combines the political present with personal confusion.
