Alain Guiraudie

Director
French director and screenwriter Alain Guiraudie was born in 1964 in Villefranche-de-Rouergue. He gained international recognition with his thriller *Stranger by the Lake* (2013), for which he won the Best Director award in the Un Certain Regard section and the Queer Palm at the Cannes Film Festival. His works, which often explore themes of sexual desire and social class, are regularly screened at prestigious festivals, including *Staying Vertical* (2016) in competition at Cannes. His film *Nobody's Hero* (2022) opened the Panorama section of the Berlinale, while *Misericordia* premiered at Cannes in 2024.
