An Iranian women's rights activist faces a decision: freedom in exile or resistance in prison?

Synopsis

After six years in Tehran’s Evin prison, Maryam is granted a rare seven-day medical furlough. Outside the prison walls, the world feels both familiar and strangely distant. Reunited with her mother and brother, she briefly experiences the warmth of home – yet the shadow of imprisonment never fully lifts. What Maryam does not know at first is that her family has prepared an escape. Together with her husband Behnam, who lives in Germany, they have arranged for her to be smuggled across the snow-covered mountains at the Turkish border. The temporary leave suddenly becomes a narrow window of possibility: a chance not just to visit, but to disappear. As Maryam embarks on the perilous journey, the film unfolds as both a political thriller and an intimate character study. Each step toward the border intensifies the central dilemma: personal freedom or collective responsibility? Safety in exile or continued resistance at home? Written by Mohammad Rasoulof, SEVEN DAYS explores the emotional cost of activism and the burden placed on those who become symbols of resistance. It is a tense and deeply human drama about courage, sacrifice, and the impossible choices forced upon those who stand up against repression.
