When Baptiste falls for drag queen Cookie Kunty, his world turns upside down. Will he choose love or loyalty in this captivating Parisian tale?
Synopsis
Baptiste is in a steady relationship with Samia when he meets Cookie Kunty, a magnetic young drag queen from the Paris scene. What starts as fascination quickly turns into a photography project: Baptiste wants to capture Cookie on stage — and soon finds himself pulled into a vivid world of performance, friendship, and chosen family.
Backstage and in late-night clubs, Baptiste discovers the reality behind the persona: the work, the vulnerability, the solidarity, and the everyday negotiations of identity. As he grows closer to Quentin, the person behind Cookie Kunty, his attachment deepens and begins to unsettle the life he has built with Samia. Desire, loyalty, and self-image collide, and Baptiste is forced to question what he truly wants — and what he is willing to risk.
Florent Gouëlou’s debut feature blends romantic comedy with an affectionate, insider gaze on drag culture, balancing lightness with emotional stakes. Rather than treating the scene as spectacle, the film foregrounds intimacy: how relationships change when new parts of ourselves come into focus.
THREE NIGHTS A WEEK (Trois nuits par semaine) had its premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival (2022) as the opening film of the Venice International Critics’ Week (Settimana Internazionale della Critica). It was also in competition for the Queer Lion Award at Venice 2022.
