Minu kallimad - My Partners

Directed by Eva Kübar

Trailer

MY PARTNERS follows three open couples in a clear-eyed documentary on polyamory, desire and the limits of freedom across Berlin and Estonia.

Synopsis

MY PARTNERS is an intimate documentary portrait of people searching for ways to live and love beyond conventional monogamy. Observing several polyamorous relationships, the film explores desire, tenderness and the ongoing challenge of making space for more than two people within a partnership. Kay and Beate have been married for more than 30 years, yet their summer in the Baltic countryside is shaped by a new openness. That openness includes Marianne, who lives in Tallinn with her two children and whose relationship with Kay unsettles familiar ideas of loyalty, habit and security. Elsewhere, Riita and Taavi seek guidance from a mentor as they attempt to transform a relationship that no longer feels fulfilling. The film follows its protagonists with remarkable restraint, placing freedom alongside uncertainty, trust alongside jealousy, and longing alongside hesitation. Through attentive observation, glances, pauses and moments of silence become part of the emotional landscape, revealing the complexities and contradictions of polyamorous relationships without reducing them to simple answers. Moving between Berlin and Estonia, MY PARTNERS approaches polyamory not as a theory or provocation, but as a lived experience. Rather than offering conclusions, the film invites viewers to reflect on questions of intimacy, commitment and personal freedom for themselves.
