Trailer

ALARM follows a volunteer fire brigade on standby, turning crisis readiness into a documentary about duty, teamwork and resilience in uncertain times.

Synopsis

ALARM follows the members of a volunteer fire brigade who remain on call around the clock, ready to respond whenever an emergency strikes. Rather than turning rescue operations into spectacle, the film focuses on the routines, responsibilities and teamwork that make their work possible. Judith Zdesar accompanies the brigade through training exercises, youth programmes, the education of new members and everyday life at the fire station. Alongside the technical precision required for every operation, the documentary reveals the physical and emotional demands of being constantly prepared for the unexpected. It becomes clear that every successful response depends on experience, trust and the ability to remain calm under pressure. More than a portrait of emergency services, ALARM explores the intergenerational community that sustains the brigade. Shared experiences, mutual support and a strong sense of responsibility shape a group whose commitment extends far beyond individual emergencies. Without glorifying heroism, the film reflects on resilience, solidarity and the quiet dedication behind public service. Directed by Judith Zdesar, ALARM is an intimate documentary about people who stand ready whenever they are needed, revealing the humanity, discipline and commitment behind every emergency call.
