Rachel, a teacher, is in the prime of her life when she falls in love with Ali. Along with him, his four-year-old daughter Leila enters her life. She lovingly cares for the girl and takes on more and more responsibility. But the closer her bond with Leila becomes, the more clearly Rachel feels the limits of her role: she has many responsibilities, but not the same rights as a mother.
