Wedad Sabri

Born in Baghdad in 1993, the Iraqi-German filmmaker Wedad Sabri is studying directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB). She gained international attention with her short film '1001 Nights' (2022). The work celebrated its premiere in the Pardi di domani competition at the Locarno Film Festival. In the same year, the film also received a nomination for the prestigious German newcomer's prize, the First Steps Award.
