In the male-dominated music industry of 1970s Paris, Ana uses electronic machines to create a new, unprecedented sound. Old formulas no longer enchant listeners, and a new kind of music must emerge: the music of the future. The film THE SHOCK OF THE FUTURE (Le Choc du Futur) follows Ana, a young composer who experiments with synthesizers and drum machines in her Paris apartment to create a new sound. Over the course of a day, she meets various people, including singer Clara, with whom she records music. The film addresses the challenges women faced in the music industry in the 1970s and pays tribute to the often overlooked pioneers of electronic music. THE SHOCK OF THE FUTURE premiered at the South by Southwest Festival. The film received recognition for its authentic portrayal of the early days of electronic music and its celebration of female artists who contributed significantly to the development of the genre. Director Marc Collin is a French musician, film composer, and record producer. He is best known as the founder, along with Olivier Libaux, of the project Nouvelle Vague, a cover band that covers New Wave songs in a bossa nova style.
