Jasmin Astaki-Bardeh
DirectorJasmin Astaki-Bardeh, born in Cologne in 1992, studied cultural and social sciences in Berlin and Tehran and has been continuing her studies in documentary film directing at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg since 2017. She works as a writer, director, and cinematographer and has also been reporting for ZDF since 2022.
Her short film ZWISCHENTAGE (2019, director: Jasmin Astaki-Bardeh) observes structural change using the example of the Prosper-Haniel II coal mine in the Ruhr area. The 19-minute documentary shows the transformation of mining culture with the help of atmospheric imagery and was screened at the Filmschau Baden-Württemberg.
ANWÄRTER - AUSBILDUNG IN STAMMHEIM (2020, directed by Jasmin Astaki-Bardeh and Adrian Huber) is a documentary look at the training of future prison officers right next to the Stuttgart-Stammheim prison. The film accompanies a training cycle and critically reflects on the tension between human social work and the rigid prison system.
As co-founder of Zündholz Film- und Fernsehproduktion, she develops documentary-style formats with a social focus and brings postcolonial perspectives to German filmmaking.
