Laura De Geest, born in Belgium in 1989, is a filmmaker active in Austria. She completed her studies in documentary film directing at the Vienna Film Academy. She gained international attention with her graduation film "Holgut" (2021), which deals with the Yakutian horses in Siberia. The film celebrated its world premiere at the Visions du Réel Nyon festival and was awarded the Franz Grabner Prize at the Diagonale'21. Her earlier works include the short film "Étape" (2018).
