ActorBorn in Baghdad in 1994, filmmaker Mahmoud Alsarraj lives and works in Berlin. Before studying directing at the MetFilm School Berlin, he worked as a journalist and photographer. His graduation film, "Hamza: Chasing the Ghost" (2023), earned him a nomination for the prestigious German newcomer award FIRST STEPS and was screened at festivals like the Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival. With his subsequent project "Press Line," he was invited to the Berlinale Talents' Short Form Station in 2024, highlighting his growing establishment in the German film scene.
