Born in Duisburg in 1982, filmmaker Zekiye Kaçak completed her studies at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. Her earlier short films already gained attention; for instance, "Fazilet" (2012) was nominated for the German Short Film Award. Together with Carolin Genreith, she also directed the documentary "Those Who Belly Dance" (2013). Her graduation film, the documentary "Fidan," premiered in 2024 at the 74th Berlinale in the Perspektive Deutsches Kino section. There, the work was honored with the Compass-Perspektive-Award.
