As infidelity rises in China, Mistress Dispellers are hired to end affairs and save marriages. A documentary about love and loyalty in modern China.
Synopsis
As infidelity becomes increasingly common in China’s modern marriages, a remarkable profession has emerged: the MISTRESS DISPELLER. Their mission is not to expose affairs, but to end them, and, if possible, save the marriage.
At the center of this documentary is Wang Zhenxi, a seasoned relationship fixer hired by an older wife to drive away her husband’s much younger mistress and restore the image of their seemingly perfect union. With extraordinary access, the film turns viewers into silent witnesses to private confrontations, painful compromises, and the emotional negotiations hidden behind closed doors.
Through the intertwined lives of wife, husband, mistress, and dispeller, the documentary offers an intimate portrait of love, loyalty, and social expectation in contemporary China. More than a story about adultery, it reveals the pressures of maintaining family, status, and respectability in a rapidly changing society.
