Beurokeo - Broker

One rainy night, young mother So-young leaves her baby at a baby box. Sang-hyun and Dong-soo secretly take the child, intending to find prospective adoptive parents willing to pay for him. But when So-young unexpectedly returns for her son and discovers what has happened, she decides to accompany the two men in their search for a new family. Their journey across South Korea gradually brings this unlikely group closer together, while two detectives follow their trail. Between moments of humour and uncertainty, Kore-eda asks what makes a family and whether bonds formed by circumstance can become as meaningful as those created by blood. BROKER marks Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda's first feature made in South Korea and stars Song Kang-ho, Gang Dong-won, Bae Doona, Lee Ji-eun and Lee Joo-young. The film premiered in Competition at Cannes 2022, where PARASITE star Song Kang-ho won the Best Actor Award.
