After 25 years in the paper industry, Man-soo seems to have everything: a secure career, a wife, two children and the family home he worked hard to afford. Then he is suddenly fired. More than a year of unsuccessful job hunting follows, and as his comfortable life begins to fall apart, desperation takes over. Convinced that he is the ideal candidate for a position at another paper company, Man-soo arrives at a radical solution: if there is no vacancy, he will create one. His increasingly elaborate attempts to remove his competitors turn unemployment anxiety into a macabre mixture of thriller, black comedy and social satire. Lee Byung-hun stars alongside Son Ye-jin, Park Hee-soon and Lee Sung-min. Based on Donald E. Westlake's novel The Ax, NO OTHER CHOICE premiered in Competition at the 2025 Venice Film Festival. South Korea later selected the film as its official submission for the 2026 Academy Awards, where it reached the shortlist for Best International Feature Film.
