A 50-year-old woman leaves her family to seek love again. A tender comedy about starting over and desire.
Synopsis
My Friend Eva follows a 50-year-old Spanish woman who leaves her family behind in search of a new beginning. What begins as a clean break turns into a quietly observed romantic comedy about loneliness, desire and the uneasy hope of starting over.
As Eva steps into single life, each encounter seems to carry a new complication. The film follows social pressure, awkward dates and the small emotional setbacks that arise when someone tries to rebuild a life on her own terms.
My Friend Eva keeps its focus on conversation, patience and mutual respect rather than broad comedy. Its calm rhythm allows the humor and the discomfort to emerge from everyday situations, giving the film an understated emotional weight.
Directed by Cesc Gay from a screenplay by Cesc Gay and Eduard Sola, My Friend Eva stars Nora Navas, Juan Diego Botto and Rodrigo de la Serna. My Friend Eva offers a gentle story of reinvention that can be met on its own terms.
