Naples-born actor and filmmaker Libero De Rienzo (1977–2021) started his career in the late 1990s. For his performance in Marco Ponti's film *Santa Maradona* (2001), he was awarded the David di Donatello for Best Supporting Actor. Another defining role was his portrayal of journalist Giancarlo Siani in *Fortapàsc* (2009), which earned him a David di Donatello nomination for Best Actor. He became known to a wider audience through the successful film trilogy *Smetto quando voglio* (2014–2017) and also directed the film *Sangue – La morte non esiste* (2005).
