In Jannis Alexander Kiefer's short film, which is also being shown at interfilm, two craftsmen, Uli and Didi, In their workshop somewhere between rural idyll and village dreariness, are building a swastika and puzzling over the strange newcomers to the village. GOOD GERMAN WORK (orignal title: KOLLEGEN) by Jannis Alexander Kiefer was produced in 2020 and shows how everyday routines can give rise to moral conflicts. The film celebrated its festival debut at the Interfilm Festival Berlin, among others, where it impressed audiences with its dense atmosphere and apt observation of human weaknesses. It received the rating “particularly valuable” from the German Film and Media Evaluation (FBW), which underscores the high creative and social relevance of the work. KOLLEGEN also attracted international attention—for example, at the European Film Awards, as well as at other short film festivals, which highlighted the director's precise view of power and conformity. With its mixture of precise staging, psychological tension, and social relevance, GOOD GERMAN WORK shows how much meaning can be conveyed in just a few minutes of film.
